Getting Old

Getting old sucks, but it is a hard fact of life. To stop or delay getting old, you need to know the fundamentals of getting old.

Chronological Age

Your chronological age is based on the passage of time, or your age in years. Chronological age has little to do with your health fitness. However, health problems and disease risks do increase with your chronological age. In addition, chronological age has financial and legal implications, such as getting your Social Security benefits.

Biological Age

Your biological age refers to the subtle or drastic changes that your body undergoes as you are getting old. Examples of these changes are decline in vision and the formation of lines and wrinkles on your face. You cannot see as well as you used to, and your face assumes a more mature look.

Psychological Age

Your psychological age is how you feel about getting old. You can be advanced in age, and yet you feel young at heart. After all, it is all in your mind about getting old. It is mind over matter when it comes to aging and getting old.

Getting Old and Healthy Aging

Traditionally, we designate old age at 65. But there is no basis for that. Age 65 was chosen as the age for retirement, but even that is no longer applicable. With the advancement of medical science, getting old has to do with your biological age as well as your psychological age.

Everybody ages, but everybody ages differently. Everybody undergoes aging and getting old, which are no more changes in the body and mind, and which are what they experience and perceive. In short, these changes as a result of getting old are normal. Although these changes are normal, it does not mean that they cannot be avoided or reversed. Changes in your lifestyle can prevent these normal changes due to getting old.

To conclude, healthy aging is possible at any age, irrespective of your current health conditions. It is never too late to mend. The goal of this site is to help you delay and reduce the undesired effects of getting old.
